Turning Sorrow to Joy
Our Founder, Woodrow Wagaman, Jr. was sexually abused by a previously convicted sex offender Joseph Thornton. Mr. Thornton would go on to serve in prominent positions in a Lutheran congregation that does not mandate backgeround checks for all of its volunteers. After they discovered Mr. Thornton's past crime, the Lutheran Church has still not amended their constitutions to prevent this situation from occuring again. Realizing that this was a problem that the mainline churches face, Woodrow decided this was a hill that was worth dying upon: The Protection of God's Children.
